They’ll then run a hose to the area that needs insulating – an attic, crawl space, or rim joist in an existing home, and unfinished walls or concrete block walls in new construction and pole barns. The rig that the crew will use to spray the foam is high-end and can be adjusted for temperature so it’s always perfectly mixed and the right consistency to provide an effective barrier.

Open cell spray foam is softer and less dense than closed cell and is designed to allow air movement and vapor to pass through it. It can also help with sound attenuation. However, it’s a good idea to use a vapor barrier in addition to the open cell spray foam.
