The Impact of Netball Court Surfaces on Player Performance
The WN program was designed by England Netball in 2017 and began implementation in 2018. Participating WIs or groups of WIs partnered with a WN ‘host’ employed by England Netball to oversee, recruit, mentor, and train the WI host group members to lead WN sessions. Sessions were delivered weekly or fortnightly in indoor settings (e.g. sports halls), outdoor courts or adapted spaces (e.g. church halls). Sessions ranged from warm-up activities, mini-games and drills to a series of shortened games on standard-size netball courts (30.5 x 15.3 m) with full rules. Movement intensity demands from Specialist activity were found to be highly different to those of Competition Match-play for all positional groups except Midcourters. This is because Specialist activities are specialized and focus on one specific aspect of performance such as specialist technical skill performance.
